Solutions to Common Problems in PVC Pipe Production and Processing
Various defects often occur on the inner and outer surfaces of pipes during PVC pipe production and processing, which exert a significant impact on production operations, production costs, equipment service life, and the quality of finished PVC pipes. Therefore, targeted solutions must be implemented during production.
01 Blocky Protrusions on Pipe Wall (Bubble-like)
(1) If the material moisture content is too high, properly raise the mixing temperature and extend the mixing time.
(2) If impurities are mixed in the material, identify the source of impurities and remove them.
(3) In case of poor plasticization, appropriately reduce the amount of external lubricant to improve plasticization.
02 Rough Inner Wall of Pipe
In case of poor plasticization, appropriately reduce the amount of external lubricant to improve plasticization.
03 Irregular Depressions on Inner Pipe Wall
(1) If impurities are mixed in the material, identify the source of impurities and remove them.
(2) In case of poor plasticization, appropriately reduce the amount of external lubricant to improve plasticization.
04 Dull Pipe Surface with Half Glossy and Half Matte Appearance
(1) In case of poor plasticization, appropriately reduce the amount of external lubricant to improve plasticization.
(2) If the particle size of CaCO is too large or its particle size distribution is too wide, replace it with suitable calcium carbonate.
(3) If deposits adhere to the inner wall of the die, clean the deposits and optimize the formulation.
(4) If the content of external lubricant is insufficient, properly increase the external lubricant while ensuring adequate plasticization.
05 Uneven Pipe Wall Thickness
(1) In case of poor plasticization uniformity, adjust the formulation to improve plasticization uniformity.
(2) If partial material decomposition occurs, remove the decomposed materials.
06 Black Streaks or Spots on Pipe Surface
(1) If carbon black, pigments, or stabilizers are poorly dispersed, optimize the mixing process to improve dispersion.
(2) In case of poor fluidity, adjust the formulation and increase the dosage of internal and external lubricants.
07 Discoloration or Burned Particles on Pipe Surface
(1) If the material has insufficient thermal stability, replace the PVC resin or stabilizer, and increase the stabilizer dosage.
(2) If excessive shear friction occurs in the material, increase the dosage of internal and external lubricants.
08 Small Air Voids in Pipe Cross-section
(1) If volatile components exist in the formulation, adjust the formula and eliminate volatile raw materials.
(2) If the material has insufficient thermal stability, replace the PVC resin or stabilizer, and increase the stabilizer dosage.
(3) If excessive friction occurs between the material and equipment, increase the dosage of external lubricant.
09 Soft Pipe
(1) In case of over-plasticization, adjust the lubricant ratio and increase the external lubricant dosage.
(2) If the impact modifier dosage is excessive, reduce the amount of impact modifier.
10 Brittle Pipe or Tensile Fracture
(1) In case of poor plasticization, appropriately reduce the amount of external lubricant to improve plasticization.
(2) If impurities are mixed in the material, identify the source of impurities and remove them.
(3) In case of poor plasticization uniformity, adjust the formulation to improve plasticization uniformity.
