PVC material plastic box packaging
PVC material is used for transparent packaging and is one of the earliest and most widely used sheet materials in the industry. PVC (polyvinyl chloride) is divided into two major categories: rigid and flexible. The plastic box packaging industry commonly uses rigid transparent PVC sheet materials.
Classification of PVC materials specifically for plastic boxes
The mainstream PVC materials suitable for plastic box packaging can be divided into two categories:
One type, represented by products made in Japan, has extremely high transparency and is collectively referred to in the industry as Grade A white film;
The other category primarily consists of products from Taiwan, featuring a slightly bluish hue on the surface, collectively referred to as Grade A blue sheets.
These two types of sheets are specially developed and produced for plastic box packaging. Special additives have been added to the formula, and optimizations and improvements have been made in terms of scratch resistance, anti-static properties, etc. They are suitable for plastic box printing and subsequent processing steps, making them ideal specialized materials for plastic box packaging.
Before 2010, domestically produced PVC sheets still had significant shortcomings compared to high-end plastic box applications in terms of transparency, surface water ripple flatness, scratch resistance, anti-static properties, and especially explosion-proof toughness. These domestically produced materials were generally classified as Grade B and Grade C sheets, and were mostly used in non-high-end plastic box products such as ordinary blister packaging and low-end beer sheet printing.
Simple identification method for PVC materials
1. Combustion identification method
Cut a narrow strip of material approximately 10cm in length and 1mm in width, and ignite it with a flame:
When burned, it emits black smoke and forms black char-like residue at the burn end, indicating that it is PVC;
If the flame is clear, without black smoke, and can burn completely, it is mostly made of PET material.
2. Folding discrimination method
Fold the sheet repeatedly in different directions:
After folding in one direction, white streaks will appear at the crease, indicating PVC;
If the fold remains transparent after folding, without white marks and maintaining its transparency, it is generally made of PET material.
